Dominates Busch Field |
|
Mark had the car to beat all day, and everyone knew it. Drivers fighting for the lead position would stuggle to get past Mark, only to stay there for a lap or so. Then, Martin would come charging back by, almost as if he were teasing them.
As the last wore down, Dale Jarrett and Randy Lajoie were Mark's only competition. With a few laps left, Mark chose to pit under caution while the rest of the leaders stayed on the track. Mark lost about 10 positions on the track, but hoped that his car could pull him back to the front. Mark powered through the field as if they were standing still. He spent a couple of laps sizing up Dale Jarrett and made his move on the final lap. With the white flag out, Mark Martin passed Dale Jarrett to take the checkers. The Busch Grand National drivers got a great lesson in how to get your car around the one mile "Rock" from the Winston Cup stars. |
